The CrossFit Open is still going strong! We are proud of all our athletes showing up and giving it their all in the competition! Elite will be having our last “Friday Night Lights” Electric Evening Throwdown on Friday, March 11.
1.) With fitness being a big part of your lifestyle, at what point did you start thinking about becoming a nutrition coach? In college was when I really started paying attention to my nutrition in a very strict and unhealthy way. It wasn’t until I worked with a nutrition coach that I realized what good nutrition was. I built a healthy relationship with food and better yet, my body. That’s when I realized I wanted to help other people find the same thing. Nutrition is so important for all things health; performance in the gym, composition of your body, and long term health affects. 2.) Has being more aware of your nutrition made a big impact on your overall performance in the gym? As well as everyday tasks outside the gym? Yes and yes! My performance in the gym has changed drastically! I’ve gained a lot of strength in all of my lifts, as well as improved in my conditioning. Good nutrition has also helped me become more aware of my body, when it feels good and when it doesn’t. When my nutrition is not 80-100% I feel more fatigue in my body, have slower recovery from my workouts, as well as not having as much energy or motivation throughout my days. Small changes to your diet can make a huge difference in your overall quality of life. 3.) If someone who knew little about nutrition asked you for one piece of advice to get started, what would it be? Start by adding better foods to your diet rather than restricting foods. Adding healthier foods to your day will create healthy habits that will eventually impact all your current habits, good and bad. Add colorful veggies to your meals, snack on fresh fruit, and get creative in the kitchen.
